Gordana Kalanj

Born in 1948 Gordana came to Australia as a refugee in 1994 from former Yugoslavia with her family including four sons. Prior to this she was a physical education teacher.

She learnt to row in high school and was Serbian rowing champion 1965 to 1966 in 1x, 2x. 4+.

She also played basketball in the Yugoslavian National League and  women’s soccer  in Serbia for BUSK  (Belgrade University Sports Club) in its Foundation Year.

Since coming to Australia she has been involved in many sports including swimming, basketball, volleyball, dancing and rowing.

She joined Riverside RC in late 1999 and since that time has rowed in many regattas locally and interstate always to a very high standard. Gordana has always been a valued member of Riverside RC and willing to help out around the Club.

HIGHLIGHTS OF GORDANA’S ROWING CAREER

On 28th April 2009 was awarded the Australian Government Sports Achievement Award.
